Repair Procedure B

Figure 9:

Locating Wind Noise - Procedure B

1. If there is wind noise remaining after completing Procedure A, begin Procedure "B" by applying masking tape to the following areas.

- The front door to A-pillar opening (Figure 9).

Figure 10:

- Between the front door belt line molding and the outer door panel (Figure 10).

Figure 11:

- Around the front door opening (Figure 11).

Figure 12:

- Between the front door trim and the inner weatherstrip (Figure 12).
2. Road test the vehicle to determine the overall noise level of the vehicle with the tape in place. Systematically remove the masking tape from each of the four areas, one at a time and road test the vehicle after each section of tape is removed.

3. When a source of wind noise is determined, tape that area again and drive the vehicle to confirm the source of the noise.

4. Repair the wind noise as outlined in Repair Procedure B.

Figure 13:

Repair Procedure B

Repair the source(s) of wind noise(s) as follows:

1. If clearance was found at the front of the door opening at the A-pillar, remove the foam tape from the front windshield side molding (Figure 13). Remove the foam tape and clean any residue remaining from the windshield side molding. Install the new foam tape on the windshield molding using 3M Primer # 500 for a stronger bond.
