SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Some Laser/Talon models, built prior to December 1, 1989, may exhibit headliner molding warpage at the front edge of the headliner in vehicles subjected to high ambient temperatures. A new molding and revised installation procedure have been developed to ease installation.

PARTS REQUIRED

1 Headliner Front Molding-Gray PN MB 828045
1 Headliner Front Molding-Beige PN MB 828046
1 Headliner Front Molding-Lt.Gray PN MB 828047

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Carefully release the A-pillar moldings by pulling out on the molding at the junction of the A-pillar and roof panel. This will allow the molding to be pulled out from under the B-pillar molding. Do not remove the Apillar molding from the lower end of the A-pillar.

2. To remove the headliner molding, start at either end and pull it off the roof flange.

3. Begin the installation of the headliner molding at either end of the roof flange. Position the molding as shown in Figure 1, with a gap between the molding and the headliner. Work the molding into position bending it at approximately 901 to the flange while pushing the loose end onto the flange as shown in Figure 2.

4. When the molding is completely on the flange, roll the molding toward the headliner to cover the gap and meet the headliner as shown in Figure 3.
5. Install the A-pillar trim.
