Fig. 10 Vehicle Maintenance Monitor (VMM) System Wiring Schematic (Part 2 Of 2):

This system monitors regular service and maintenance intervals, engine oil level, engine coolant level, windshield washer fluid level, brake and tail lamps, door ajar, transaxle (models w/4-150 engine) and oil, coolant and washer sensors.

When the vehicle is started and no faults are present, the display will indicate ``MONITOR". If the monitor detects a fault, it will be noted on the display. If more than one fault is noted, the fault of the highest priority will be displayed first. The display will then note all existing faults and return to the fault of highest priority. The VMM fault messages are as follows:

a. DOOR--Door Ajar--Close door indicated on vehicle outline display to reset monitor.

b. LAMP--Brake Or Tail Lamp Outage--The display will be illuminated when brake is applied or light switch is in the On position and a burned out lamp bulb is present. To reset monitor, replace burned out bulb.

c. COOLANT--Low Engine Coolant Level--Bringing coolant to proper level will reset monitor.

d. OIL--Low Engine Oil Level--The system will check engine oil level approximately 12 minutes after the ignition switch has been placed in the Off position. A low oil level condition must be indicated three consecutive times before the monitor will display ``Oil". To reset monitor, add oil to bring to proper level, then while display is indicating the ``Oil" message, depress Reset select switch until a beep is noted. Even if Reset select switch is not depressed, the system will automatically reset monitor after three proper oil level readings have been obtained.

e. WASHER--Low Washer Fluid Level--Bringing washer fluid to proper level will reset monitor.

f. TRANS--Service Transaxle (Models w/4-150 Engine)--Indicates defect in automatic transaxle.

g. SERVICE--Perform Required Service and Maintenance--This message will be indicated at 7,500 mile intervals to indicate that required service is to be performed. After performing the required service, depress Reset select switch until a beep is noted.

h. SENSOR--This message will be indicated when a defect in the oil, coolant or washer sensor circuit is noted. Refer to ``Self-Diagnosis."

i. MILES (KMS)--Miles to next scheduled service interval.
