Crankshaft Timing Sensor:
The engine controller uses the input from the crankshaft timing sensor to determine ignition and fuel injector delivery timing. The crankshaft timing sensor senses four (4) sets of slots (each set containing four (4) slots) cut into the transmission driveplate. Basic ignition timing is set by the position of the last slot in each set. This is a computer controlled timing system -- timing adjustments cannot be made.
