Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder: Service and Repair

1. Remove steering wheel, refer to STEERING WHEEL.
2. Remove turn signal canceler cam by unhooking tabs and sliding canceler off steering column.
NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with tilt wheel, remove tilt wheel control arm.
3. Remove upper and lower headlight pod retaining screws.
NOTE: There are two small retaining clips on the headlight and A/C-heater pods that may fall off when pod is removed.
4. Remove A/C-heater housing pod retaining screws, then carefully remove pod back.
5. Carefully remove headlight and A/C-heater pod.

Removing Ignition Switch Trim Ring:





6. Remove ignition switch trim ring by prying it away from pod housing.
7. Remove retaining screws and the headlight pod back.

Removing Headlight & A/C-heater Pods:





8. Remove screws from housing, then pass pods through openings in pod housing and remove housing.

Removing Key Lock Cylinder:





9. Place key in unmarked position lining up key with groove in lock cylinder housing.
10. Press locking tab from underneath as shown, then remove lock cylinder.
11. Reverse procedure to install, ensuring steering wheel is aligned with reference mark on steering shaft. Torque steering wheel nut to 52 lb-ft.
