Procedure For Floor Air Repair
1. Remove the drivers side floor duct.2. Remove the passenger side floor duct and discard.
3. Remove the distribution duct in accordance with the appropriate service manual.
4. Remove the heater control wire from the heater assembly. (See Figure 2)
5. Remove the screw from link "A" and remove the link.
6. Remove the screw from link "B" and remove the link.
7. Remove the defroster lever and discard.
CAUTION:
USE A SCREWDRIVER TO UNLOCK THE TAB ON THE LEVER BEFORE REMOVING THE LEVER. (SEE FIGURE 2A)
8. Install the new defroster lever.
9. Install the "B" link and screw.
10. Install the "A" link and screw.
11. Install the heater control wire.
12. Modify the air outlet of the distribution duct by using a cutter and tape as shown in Figure 3.
13. Modify, or replace the drivers side floor air duct. If replacing, replace with MB609838. If modifying, continue with the following procedure.
14. Modify the driver's side floor duct by using a heat gun on the hollow portion of the duct and pushing the hollow portion out with a suitable instrument. (See Figure 4)
15. Replace the passenger's side floor duct with the new part.
16. Install the modified distribution duct and the modified, or replacement driver's side floor duct to the heater assembly.
17. Check for proper heater/defroster operation.
