Engine: Service and Repair


1. Relieve fuel system pressure as outlined under Maintenance Procedures/Fuel System Pressure Relief.
2. Mark hood hinge location on hood then remove hood.
3. On 2.4L models, remove engine undercover.
4. On all models, drain engine coolant.

5. Remove the radiator in numbered sequence shown.

6. Remove the engine in numbered sequence shown, noting the following:
a. Without disconnecting its hydraulic lines, remove the power steering pump from its mounting bracket. Suspend the pump in an out of the way place.
b. On models equipped with A/C, let the refrigerant lines remain connected, then remove the compressor from its mounting bracket and carefully suspend it where it will not be a hindrance.
c. Remove the 1.8L engine mount bracket or the 2.4L center member mounting bolt as directed in Engine Mount Replacement.
d. Ensure all hoses, cables, harness connections are disconnected.
7. Reverse procedure to install, ensuring not to pinch any cables, hoses, pipes or harnesses.
