Transaxle Replacement
1. Remove air cleaner assembly.2. Raise and support vehicle then drain transaxle fluid.

3. Remove transaxle in numbered sequence shown noting the following:
a. Remove starter motor with starter motor harness attached then suspend starter motor to frame.
b. On 1.8L/4-111.9 engines, support engine using engine mount tool No. MB991191 or equivalent.
c. On 2.4L/4-143.5 engines, support engine using a suitable floor jack.
d. On all engines, disconnect tie rods and ball joints using steering linkage tool No. MB991113 or equivalent.
e. Remove driveshafts.
f. Disconnect clutch slave cylinder and suspend to frame leaving oil line connected.
g. Support transaxle assembly using a transaxle jack then after moving transaxle to right, lower it.
4. Reverse procedure to install, keeping the driveshaft straight when installing.
