Fig. 6 Belt Tension Inspection:




1. Measure drive belt deflection by pulling or pushing at mid-point of the belt between pulleys as shown with a force of 22 lbs.
2. Deflection should be 0.24-0.28 inch. If deflection is not within specifications, tighten belt as follows:
a. Loosen tension pulley securing nut (A -in illustration).
b. Adjust tension to specification with adjusting bolt (B -in illustration), 0.20-0.24 inch for a new belt and o.24-o.28 inch for used belt. [01]
c. Tighten securing nut.
3. Check belt tension after driving vehicle.




[01] -- A belt which has been installed and run for 15 minutes is considered "used".
