Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair

Adjusting Stoplamp Switch Clearance:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect electrical connector from stop light switch.
3. Remove retaining nut from bracket, then remove switch.
4. Reverse procedure to install. Ensure brake pedal height is correct, then adjust switch to obtain a clearance of 0.02 to 0.04 inch between switch housing and pedal stopper with pedal released.
