A/T - Delayed 2/3 or 3/4 Upshifts When Cold
NO: 21-06-94GROUP: Transmission
DATE: Apr. 8, 1994
SUBJECT:
Automatic Transmission Shift Pattern - Delayed Shift
MODELS:
1991 - 1994 (B7) Stealth
1993 - 1994 (B8) Colt Vista/Summit Wagon
1994 (B9) Colt/Summit
1995 (FJ) Talon
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Delayed 2/3 or 3/4 transmission gear shifts, up to 2 minutes, when the transmission fluid temperature is below 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
DISCUSSION:
The transmission shift pattern on the models listed above provides for a delayed upshift (see chart). If the transmission fluid temperature is below 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 degrees Celsius), or if the vehicle operating time, since the ignition switch is turned on, is less than the time shown on the chart, the shift pattern will be delayed.
POLICY:
This information is being provided for information only and no repair attempt should be made to alter the shift pattern or modify the transmission.
