Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
INSPECTION AND VERIFICATIONNOTE:
- If any concerns are noted with the speedometer, the stoplamps or the horn, address those concerns, referring to the appropriate sections, before continuing the speed control diagnosis.
- If the vehicle is a diesel, refer to Computers and Control Systems. Testing and Inspection
1. Verify the customer concern.
Visual Inspection Chart:
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. Verify the speedometer operates correctly by driving the vehicle. If the speedometer does not operate correctly, refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
5. If the cause is not visually evident, verify the symptom and GO to Symptom Chart.
