Principles of Operation
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATIONThe vehicle security module is on the universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART)-based protocol (UBP) communication network. To support several vehicle subsystems, the module permits intermodule and diagnostic tool communications.
The vehicle security module controls the power door lock system. The module monitors the door lock/unlock switch inputs from the interior door lock switches. When the module receives an unlock/lock command from any door lock control switch, the module activates the door lock actuators. The module also controls the following remote lock/unlock features:
- remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter lock/unlock
- panic alarm
- RKE keypad
The vehicle security module controls the autolamp subsystem. The autolamp subsystem provides light-sensitive automatic on/off control of the headlamps and parking lamps.
The third row power-fold seat relays are also controlled by the vehicle security module. This allows the seats to be adjusted by pressing one of the third row power-fold seat switches.
