BATTERY DRAIN - 4X4 - NEUTRAL TOW MODE

FORD:
2004-2005 Explorer

ISSUE
Some 2004 and 2005 Explorer vehicles equipped with 4X4 may exhibit a battery drained condition. This may occur after the customer has enabled the neutral tow feature on a 4X4 Explorer and the vehicle has not been driven for an extended period. The battery drain is caused by a software error which may keep the electrical system from going into sleep mode.

ACTION
Replace the powertrain control module (PCM) assembly. Use Workshop Manual, Section 303-14.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
