DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

Anti-Lock Control

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)
The anti-lock brake system consists of the following components:
^ hydraulic control unit (HCU)
^ ABS module
^ rear wheel speed sensor
^ rear wheel speed sensor ring (integral to the ring gear)
^ front wheel speed sensors
^ front wheel speed sensor ring (integral to the hub and bearing assembly)
^ yellow ABS warning indicator
^ brake pressure switch

The front wheel speed sensor rings are integral to the front hub and bearing assemblies. The rear wheel speed sensor ring is integral to the ring gear.

ABS with Stability Assist
The ABS with traction control and stability assist consists of these additional components:
^ rear wheel speed sensors
^ rear wheel speed sensor ring (integral to the halfshaft)
^ sensor cluster (contains the accelerometer[s], roll rate sensor, and yaw rate sensor)
^ steering position sensor (integral to the clockspring)
^ primary brake pressure transducer
^ brake pedal travel sensor
^ brake pedal force switch (integral to the brake booster)
^ brake booster solenoid (integral to the brake booster)

The front wheel speed sensor rings are integral to the front hub and bearing assemblies.

The rear wheel speed sensor rings for 4 channel ABS are integral to the rear halfshaft.
