REAR DOOR CLADDING RUB / CHAFE ON RUNNING
BOARD

2006 Explorer

ISSUE
Some 2006 Explorer 4dr (Eddie Bauer & Limited) vehicles may experience the rear doors rubbing / chaffing on the running boards when opening or closing.

ACTION
Use the following Service Procedure to install reduced length rear door cladding.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

CAUTION
DO NOT ADD SHIMS OR ADJUST RUNNING BOARDS TO GAIN CLEARANCE WITH THE DOOR CLADDING. DOING SO MAY EFFECT THREAD ENGAGEMENT AND DURABILITY WITH THE ATTACHMENT.

1. Visually inspect rub / chafe concern and inspect for running board paint damage.

2. If running board paint has been damaged, remove running board following appropriate Workshop Manual, Section 501-08 and repair as required and proceed to Step 3.

3. Obtain reduced length rear door cladding 1-3/4" reduction (45 mm).

4. Replace the existing rear door cladding with the revised parts.

5. Paint cladding to match before installing.
