LIMITED OR RESTRICTED INWARD MOVEMENT OF EXTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR GLASS

ISSUE
Some 2006 Explorer 4dr, Mountaineer, and Ranger vehicles may exhibit limited or restricted inward movement of the exterior rear view mirror glass. This may be caused by the dampner tab coming out of its track.
ACTION
Inspect and reposition dampner as necessary. Refer to the following Service Procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Move the mirror to the full outward and downward position.
2. Inspect behind the glass to see if the dampner is in its track (Figures 1 and 2).
a. If it is in its track, continue with normal diagnostics. Do not continue with this TSB.
b. If it is out of its track, proceed to Step 3.
3. Gently lift glass up until the bottom of the dampner is higher than the track.
4. Flex dampner back into the track and release the glass (Figure 3).
