Attachment III - Technical Information

OVERVIEW
As part of a class action settlement, affected vehicles will be granted a 6.0L Diesel Engine Warranty extension to 6 years of service or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Any vehicles that have exceeded these time and mileage limits are not eligible for coverage under this program.

Qualifying Repairs and Procedures

Any repair that would be covered by the original 6.0L Diesel Engine Warranty will be covered by this program if the repair is made within the warranty extension time and mileage limits. Diagnosis and repair labor operations may be claimed for a qualifying repair. TSB labor operations may be claimed if applicable.

Prior Approval

Follow current published prior approval guidelines for diesel engine and diesel engine component repairs.

Run OASIS including a symptom code. Click on Prior Approval" at the bottom of the OASIS screen.

Then select either Diesel Engine or Diesel Parts. Complete and submit the web form.

The following powertrain assemblies require prior approval:

^ 6.0L and 6.4L Diesel Engines (6006/6007).

The following 6.0L Diesel Selected Engine Components require prior approval:

^ 6K682 - Turbo Assembly. NOTE: Turbo components (i.e. Center Housing Rotating Assembly, Unison Ring) do not require prior approval.

^ 9A543 - High Pressure Oil Pump.

^ 6049 - Cylinder Head** / 6051 - Head Gasket**.

^ 9P456 - EGR Cooler.

^ 6A642 - Oil Cooler Assembly. NOTE: Oil Cooler Heat Exchanger Kit CA does not require prior approval.

** When diagnostics lead to the 6049 - Cylinder Head or 6051 - Head Gasket prior approval must be obtained before removing the cylinder head(s). Prior approval for head gaskets (6051) does not automatically provide you with prior approval for head (6049) replacement.
