Antenna
The antenna cable connects the audio unit to the antenna, located on the front of the roof. The antenna system consists of the antenna and the antenna cable.
Audio Input Jack
The audio input jack is used to connect a portable MP3 device to the vehicle. When connected, the audio files from the MP3 player can be broadcast through the vehicle speakers.
Satellite Audio System
The satellite audio system provides satellite-broadcast audio. The satellite antenna is mounted on the rear spoiler. The satellite audio system consists of the following components:
- Satellite radio receiver
- Satellite radio antenna
- Satellite radio antenna cable
Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) Player
The DVD player is available on all vehicles except the Edge SE and vehicles equipped with a panoramic roof. The DVD player includes the following:
- DVD player
- 2 wireless headphones
- a remote control
THX(R) Audio System
The THX(R) audio system provides theatre quality sound inside the vehicle. The THX(R) audio system is only available for the MKX, and includes the following components:
- THX(R) amplifier
- Front center imaging speaker (also referred to as the instrument panel speaker)
- 2 mid-woofers in the front doors
- 2 tweeter speakers in the front doors
- 2 co-axial speakers in the rear doors
- 2 rear mid-tweeters in the D-pillars
- a subwoofer
Navigation System
The navigation system audibly and visually guides the user to a selected destination. The system uses a global positioning system (GPS) antenna, a vehicle speed input, and other sensor information to accurately establish the vehicle position. The audio unit provides the visual and audible instructions of the maneuvers required to arrive at the pre-entered destination.
The only external component of the navigation system is the GPS antenna, located in the instrument panel.
