PINPOINT TEST U: DTC B229B - OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM OBSTRUCTIONU1-U2:
U3-U5:
Normal Operation
The occupant classification sensor (OCS) is used to classify the front passenger seat occupant in the event of a deployable impact.
The OCS system monitors the 4 OCS weight sensors bolts and circuity for faults. If the OCS module detects an obstruction, an upward force on the passenger seat for 60 seconds, it will store diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B229B in memory and send a message to the restraints control module (RCM). The RCM will store DTC B2290 in memory and send a message to the instrument cluster module to illuminate the air bag warning indicator.
Possible Causes
An OCS system obstruction fault can be caused by:
- a foreign object placed under or contacting the passenger seat.
