Test AQ: Injection Control Pressure Too Low - Engine Cranking

PINPOINT TEST AQ: INJECTION CONTROL PRESSURE TOO LOW - ENGINE CRANKING

Flow Chart:

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- harness circuits: ICP and IPR
- high-pressure oil pump
- ICP sensor
- IPR valve

-----------------------------------------------
AQ1 : DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P2291

- Check the engine oil level
- Record the freeze frame data
- Carry out the KOEO self-test. Quick Test Description
- Verify no ICP and IPR circuit concerns are present.
- Are any DTCs present?

-----------------------------------------------
AQ2 : CHECK THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL

NOTE: If the vehicle stalls after start, oil is not being supplied from the low-pressure oil system

- Verify the correct oil level, quality, and viscosity
- Check the base engine oil pressure. Refer to the Engine for the specifications
- Verify steps 5 and 10 on the Hard Start/No Start Diagnostic Guide have been carried out
- Clear the DTCs.
- Access the PCM and monitor the ICP PID.
- Crank the engine.
- Is the ICP PID minimum voltage 0.85 volt within 5 seconds of crank?

-----------------------------------------------
AQ3 : CHECK THE ICP SENSOR

- Ignition OFF.
- ICP Sensor connector disconnected.
- Does the vehicle start?

-----------------------------------------------
AQ4 : HIGH-PRESSURE LEAKAGE TEST

- ICP Sensor connector connected.
- Clear the DTCs.
- Carry out the Injection Control Pressure Tests. Refer to Hard Start or No Start Diagnostic Procedures Hard Start or No Start Diagnostic Procedures
- Is a leak present?

-----------------------------------------------
AQ5 : CHECK THE IPR VALVE

- ICP Sensor connector connected.
- Connect all the hoses
- Install a new IPR valve
- Does the vehicle start?

-----------------------------------------------
AQ6 : CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT CIRCUIT CONCERNS

- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Access the PCM and monitor the ICP PID.
- Grasp the vehicle harness near the ICP sensor connector. Wiggle and shake the vehicle harness while working toward the PCM
- Does the ICP PID reading fluctuate?

-----------------------------------------------
AQ7 : INSPECT THE IPR CIRCUIT

- Inspect the IPR circuit from the IPR valve through the 12-way connector to the PCM
- Are any concerns present?
