Pinpoint Test K: The Autolock Does Not Operate Correctly

Normal Operation

The autolocking function automatically locks all doors when all of the following conditions are concurrently met during the current key cycle:

- All the doors are closed
- The autolocking function is active
- The ignition switch is in the RUN position
- The transmission is in a forward gear
- The vehicle speed exceeds 7 km/h (5 mph)

After the initial activation of autolocking and at least one door has been opened, autolocking is activated again if the following conditions are concurrently met:

- All the doors are closed
- The ignition switch is in the RUN position
- The vehicle speed exceeds 7 km/h (5 mph)

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Door ajar switch inputs
- Autolock programming
- Vehicle speed signal from the IC
- Generic Electronic Module (GEM)



PINPOINT TEST K: THE AUTOLOCK DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY

K1 VERIFY THE AUTOLOCK FEATURE IS ENABLED


- Verify the autolock feature is enabled.
- Is the autolock feature enabled?

Yes
GO to K2.

No
TURN on the feature. REFER to Autolock and Auto-Unlock Programming Autolock and Auto-Unlock Programming.

K2 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP OPERATION


- Open and close each door while checking the courtesy lamp operation.
- Do the courtesy lamps operate correctly?

Yes
GO to K3.

No
REFER to Lighting and Horns to continue diagnosis of the interior lighting.

K3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED GEM DTCs FROM THE SELF-TEST


- Check for recorded GEM DTCs from the self-test.
- Is DTC U0155 recorded?

Yes
Information Bus.

No
GO to K4.

K4 CHECK FOR CORRECT GEM OPERATION


- Disconnect all the GEM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the GEM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new GEM. REFER to Body Control Systems. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
