Instrument Panel

Removal and Installation

1. Rotate the steering wheel until the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.

2. Remove the LH fender splash shield.

3. Remove the 2 rivets and the LH bulkhead electrical connector shield.





4. Completely loosen the 2 LH bulkhead electrical connector screws, disconnect the electrical connectors.





5. Remove the bulkhead electrical connector cover, press the connector tabs inward to release the connector from the cowl.





6. Remove the Restraints Control Module (RCM). For additional information, refer to Restraint Systems.

7. Disconnect the park brake switch electrical connector and release the 2 wire harness retainers.





8. Disconnect the stability control sensor cluster electrical connector.





9. Remove the steering wheel. For additional information, refer to Steering Column.

10. Remove the fuse box cover.
- Open the fuse box cover, pull upward and remove the fuse box cover from the steering column opening trim panel finish panel.

11. Remove the steering column opening trim panel screw, pull the steering column opening trim panel downward releasing the retaining clips.





12. Position the LH and RH weatherstrips away from the front door openings near the instrument panel.

13. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels.

14. Remove the LH and RH cowl side trim panels.

15. Remove and discard the steering column shaft-to-steering column bolt.
- To install, use a new steering column shaft-to-steering column bolt and tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).





16. NOTE: The cellular antenna connector is located between the steering column shaft and the fuse box.

Disconnect the cellular antenna connector, if equipped.

17. Through the floor console opening, disconnect the audio unit antenna connector.

18. Remove the glove compartment in the following sequence.

1. Press the sides of the glove compartment inward.

2. Lower the door.

3. Pull door toward the rear of the vehicle, releasing the glove compartment hinge from the instrument panel.

19. Remove the 4 scrivets and the RH lower instrument panel insulator.

20. Disconnect the blower motor resister and the blower motor electrical connectors.





21. Remove the bolt and the ground wire from the RH cowl.

22. Disconnect the RH instrument panel wire harness-to-body wire harness electrical connector in the following sequence.

1. Press the 4 connector cover release tabs inward.

2. Pull the cover away from the cowl.

3. Disconnect the electrical connector.





23. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors and the 2 wire harness retainers at the RH cowl area.





24. Remove the bolt and the ground wire from the LH cowl.

25. Disconnect the LH instrument panel wire harness-to-body wire harness electrical connector in the following sequence.

1. Press the 4 connector cover release tabs inward.

2. Pull the cover away from the cowl.

3. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.





26. Disconnect the accelerator pedal sensor electrical connector.





27. Remove the 3 instrument panel upper screws from the defrost grill.

28. Remove the 6 bolts and the instrument panel center support bracket.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

29. Through the LH door opening, remove the upper A-pillar plug and the instrument panel side bolt.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).





30. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel side finish panels.
- Through the steering column opening, press the back of the LH panel to release the rear retaining tabs.

- Through the glove compartment opening, press the back of the RH panel to release the rear retaining tabs.

31. NOTICE: To avoid damaging the instrument panel, an assistant is required to support the instrument panel when carrying out this step.

NOTE: Remove the bolts from one side completely and support the instrument panel before removing the bolts from the opposite side.

Remove the 3 LH and 2 RH instrument panel front bolts.

- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

32. NOTICE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the instrument panel or damage to the components may occur.

NOTICE: To avoid damage to the instrument panel, place the instrument panel upside-down on a covered bench.

Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.

33. NOTICE: To avoid damaging the instrument panel, the aid of an assistant is required when positioning the instrument panel to the vehicle.

NOTICE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are correctly routed when installing the instrument panel or damage to the components may occur.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
