Rear Suspension

Rear Suspension

The rear suspension consists of the following components:

- Axle
- Shock absorbers
- Springs (leaf-type)
- Spring shackles
- Stabilizer bar, bushings, brackets and links
- Wheel bearing and wheel hubs
- Wheel spindles
- Wheel studs

The rear suspension system utilizes a steel tube axle supported by semi-elliptic, leaf-type springs and shock absorbers. The leaf springs are secured to the body at 2 mounting points. The front mounting is fixed. The rear mounting utilizes a shackle that adapts to variations in the leaf spring length during jounce and rebound. Shock absorbers are used to dampen vertical body movement and a stabilizer bar and links are included to control suspension lean/sway. Wheel spindles and sealed wheel bearing and wheel hub assemblies are attached to welded flanges at the outer ends of the axle tube.
