Pinpoint Test Y: DTC U0197:00
Normal Operation
Several audio system modules receive network messages from the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) via the Infotainment Controller Area Network (I-CAN).
As more than one module receives each of these messages, all modules receiving a particular message should exhibit a symptom if the message is missing.
- DTC U0197:00 (Lost Communication With Telephone Control Module: No Sub Type Information)- set by the audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) module when network messages are missing from the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) for more than 5 seconds with the ignition in RUN.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Communication network concern
- Audio system concern
- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)
PINPOINT TEST Y : DTC U0197:00
Y1 CHECK THE APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) DTCs
- Clear the audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Repeat the audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module self-test.
Is DTC U0197:00 still present?
Yes
GO to Y2.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to an intermittent fault in the network wiring.
Y2 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes
GO to Y3.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to an intermittent fault in the network wiring. CHECK the I-CAN (Infotainment Controller Area Network) wiring between the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) and the audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module for a fault.
Y3 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Carry out the network test using the scan tool.
Does the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) pass the network test?
Yes
GO to Y4.
No
REFER to Information Bus.
Y4 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCs
- Carry out the self-test for the following modules:
- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)
- Audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module
Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded in either module?
Yes
REFER to DTC Charts Information and Entertainment Systems.
No
GO to Y5.
Y5 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect all the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module). REFER to Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR all continuous DTCs.
