Disassembly
1. Install 307-577 on the transfer shaft bearing cup.
2. Install 204-069 (T81P-1104-C) and thread it into 307-577.
3. Using a wrench, turn the nut on 204-069 (T81P-1104-C) to remove the transfer shaft bearing cup from the torque converter housing.
4. Remove the preload shim.
5. Using a suitable tool, punch a hole in the fluid dam.
6. If the transfer shaft bearing cup was removed, using a suitable dent puller, remove the fluid dam from the torque converter housing.
7. Front Wheel Drive (FWD) Only Using a suitable tool, remove the halfshaft seal from the torque converter housing.
8. Install 307-586 on the bearing cup.
1. Position 307-586 in the torque converter housing with the tabs on 307-586 aligned with the slots in the transaxle case.
2. Expand 307-586 by hand.
3. While holding 307-586 in the expanded position with the tabs in the slots of the transaxle case, tighten the nut.
9. Using a suitable press, press the differential bearing cup out of the torque converter housing.
10. Remove the differential bearing preload shim.
Assembly
1. Select a new differential or transfer shaft shim. REFER to Differential Shim Selection Differential Shim Selection.
2. Assemble 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) and 307-583 and install a new transfer shaft fluid dam on 307-583.
3. NOTICE: Support the torque converter housing using blocks of wood, or damage to the torque converter housing may occur.
Using 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) and 307-583, install the fluid dam in the torque converter housing.
4. Inspect the transfer shaft fluid dam to be sure it is seated evenly into the torque converter housing.
5. Install the transfer shaft preload shim in the torque converter housing.
6. Using 307-576, press the transfer shaft bearing cup in the torque converter housing.
7. Install the differential bearing preload shim in the torque converter housing.
8. Install a new differential bearing race on 307-576.
9. Using 307-576, 307-541 and 204-029 (T77F-1176-A) , press the differential bearing cup in the torque converter housing.
