VIBRATION AT IDLE AND/OR REVERSE

2010-2013 Transit Connect
This article supersedes TSB 11-9-10 to update the vehicle model years and Service Procedure.
ISSUE
Some 2010-2013 Transit Connect vehicles may exhibit an excessive engine vibration at idle, most noticeable when the transmission is engaged in reverse.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Inspect the transaxle roll restrictor for debris i.e. small stones, road debris, ice or snow packed/lodged.
2. Is debris present?
a. Yes - proceed to Step 3
b. No - this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04 for normal diagnostics.
3. Remove any debris from transaxle roll restrictor.
4. Remove the cross member-to-roll restrictor.
5. Install adhesive pad on the roll restrictor. (Figure 1)
6. Using a suitable tool such as an exacto knife, remove excess pad material within the rectangled area. (Figure 1)
a. The pad must be aligned properly on the roll restrictor, as to not interfere with clamping force. No material should be trapped between the roll restrictor and crossmember.
7. Install transaxle roll / restrictor and attachment bolt. Torque to specification, 70 N.m (52 lb-ft).
