Antenna - AM/FM
The antenna and related components consist of the following:
- Radio antenna fixed mast
- Radio antenna shortened fixed mast (cutaway only)
- AM/FM antenna cable
- Fender-mounted antenna base
The antenna receives AM and FM radio frequency waves. These radio frequency waves are sent to the audio unit through the AM/FM antenna cable.
Satellite Radio
The satellite audio system is comprised of the following:
- ACM (Audio Front Control Module) (satellite receiver is built-in)
- Satellite radio antenna
- Satellite radio antenna cable
Navigation System
The navigation system consists of the following:
- Navigation ACM (Audio Front Control Module)
- Combination GPS (Global Positioning System) /satellite radio antenna
- Microphone
The ACM (Audio Front Control Module) controls the operation of the navigation system and the audio system. The system uses a GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna, a vehicle speed input, and other sensor information to accurately establish the vehicle position.
SYNC(R) System
The SYNC(R) system consists of the following:
- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)
- SYNC(R)-specific steering wheel controls
- Microphone
- USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable and port
- Audio input jack
- GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) (vehicles without navigation)
The SYNC(R) system is a hands-free communications and entertainment system that allows the following interactions:
- Send and receive phone calls via a Bluetooth-enabled phone
- Send and receive text messages via a Bluetooth-enabled phone
- Connect media devices (such as an iPod(R) or USB (Universal Serial Bus) flash device) in order to play audio files
- Play media files via a Bluetooth-enabled audio device
- Produce vehicle health reports
- Initiate an emergency call (eCall) when the air bags deploy
- Provide hands-free access to traffic reports, turn-by-turn driving directions, business listings, news, sports, and weather.
The GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) works with the SYNC(R) system to provide vehicle location on vehicles not equipped with navigation, as the vehicle location must be known for the traffic, directions, and information features to operate correctly.
Not all features are available with every phone.
For additional information on audio system operation, including the SYNC(R) system, refer to the Owner's Literature.
