Warning Chimes
Warning Chimes
The warning chimes provide the driver with audible warnings that act as reminders and supplemental alerts to the visual Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) indications. The deviation from this strategy is the air bag warning chime, which alerts the driver that the primary alerting system (air bag warning indicator) does not operate. The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) controls all warning chimes based on messages received from external modules.
The warning chime system consists of the following:
- Door ajar switch
- Key-in-ignition warning switch (part of the ignition switch)
- Liftgate ajar switch
- Safety belt buckle switch (part of the safety belt buckle)
- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)
- Body Control Module (BCM)
- Restraints Control Module (RCM)
The following chimes are controlled by the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) :
- Adaptive cruise control
- Air bag warning
- Belt-Minder(R)
- Door ajar
- Forward collision warning
- Headlamps on
- Key-in-ignition
- Memory feedback
- Message center
- MyKey(R) speed
- Parking brake applied
- Perimeter alarm
- Safety belt warning
- Service AdvanceTrac(R)
- Turn signal/hazard on
