Driver Seat Module (DSM)- Memory Seat
When the vehicle is equipped with the programmable/recall memory option, the power driver seat is controlled by the Driver Seat Module (DSM). The DSM (Driver Seat Module) is mounted to the bottom of the driver seat. The memory set switch is located in the driver door panel.
Front Heated Seats
The heated seat system contains the following serviceable components:
- Seat heater mats, located on the front seat cushions and backrests
- Heated seat module, mounted to the bottom of the front passenger seat
- Driver and passenger front heated seat switches, located on the HVAC controls
- Temperature sensors, located in the seat cushion heater mats
A new heater mat will come already adhered to a new foam pad. Never reuse a heater mat or foam pad.
Passenger Seat Fold Flat Backrest
The passenger seat recliners will allow the backrest to fold flat. Pull the release strap at the rear of the outboard recliner and push the backrest forward to fold flat.
Seat Side Air Bag
WARNING: Front seat backrest trim covers installed on seats equipped with seat side air bags cannot be repaired. A new trim cover must be installed. Cleaning is permissible. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the seat side air bag module deploying incorrectly and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE: If a side air bag deployment took place, a new seat back pad, trim cover and side air bag module and nuts must be installed. A new seat back frame should be installed if necessary.
The driver and front passenger seat side air bags are standard equipment and attached to the seat backrest frame. If a seat side air bag deployment has occurred or for more information, refer to Seat Belt Systems.
Safety Belt Buckle Pretensioners
As part of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), the driver and front passenger seat safety belt buckles are equipped with pretensioners. The safety belt buckle pretensioner assemblies are attached to the seat tracks. The safety belt buckle pretensioners remove excess slack from the safety belt webbing and are activated by the Restraints Control Module (RCM) when the module detects a collision event force exceeding a programmed limit. For information or if a deployment has occurred, refer to the appropriate procedure in Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems.
Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) System
The OCS (Occupant Classification Sensor) system is standard equipment on all front outboard passenger seats. For diagnosing or servicing the OCS (Occupant Classification Sensor) system, refer to Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems.
Head Restraint With DVD Player
The front seat head restraints can be equipped with DVD players for rear occupant use. For more information, refer to Accessories and Optional Equipment.
Second Row Seating
There are 2 seating options for the second row:
- 60/40 split bench
- 40/40 quad bucket seats
Each configuration's backrests will recline and fold flat, using the recliner handle at the side of each seat. When the backrest is folded flat, release and pull up again on the recliner handle and the seat will tip forward to ease entry to the third row of seating (E-Z entry). All 40/40 seats have an adjustable seat track in place of the stationary riser and power-fold to the E-Z entry position. The 40/40 quad bucket seats can be equipped with an optional heated seat system.
40/40 Power-fold Seats
The power-fold seats have convenient power-fold seat control switches mounted in each rear quarter trim panel beside the seat backrest. When the power-fold seat control switch is depressed and held for a moment, an electro-mechanical motor releases that seat's recliners and latch feet, through a cable attachment. An assist spring in the backrest recliner folds the backrest to the fold-flat position and an assist spring and strut dampener lifts the seat to the E-Z entry position. The seat must be manually returned to the seating position.
40/40 Rear Heated Seats
The heated seat system contains the following serviceable components:
- Seat heater mats located on the seat cushions and backrests.
- Heated seat module located underneath the front floor console.
- Heated seat switches, located on the rear HVAC controls on the front floor console rear panel.
- Temperature sensors, located in the seat cushion heater mats.
A new heater mat must always be installed on a new foam pad and a heater mat must never be reused.
Third Row Seating
The third row 50/50 split bench seat comes in 2 options, power or manually operated.
Each 50/50 split bench seat has the following independent features:
- Cable actuated automatic folding head restraints (power seat only)(must be manually returned to the upright position)
- Folding backrest
- The ability to form a load floor by stowing the seat into the tub area of the floor
- Tailgate seating (power seat only)
Refer to the Owner's Literature for seat operation.
For power seats, the seat control switch is located in the LH quarter trim panel and the Power-Fold Seat Module (PFSM) is mounted under the LH load floor flapper panel. The power seat only operates when the vehicle is in park and the liftgate is open. Power to the seat will time-out after 10 minutes but can be enabled by opening any door, turning the ignition on, pressing any keyless entry keypad button or the unlock button on the key fob.
