BRAKE PEDAL SQUEAK NOISE - BUILT ON OR
BEFORE 9/16/2012

FORD:
2013 Escape

ISSUE
Some 2013 Escape vehicles built on or before 9/16/2012 may exhibit a squeak noise from the pedal area when the brake pedal is applied. The source of the noise may be isolated to the booster push rod/clevis pin joint.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Loosen but do not remove all six (6) brake-pedal attaching fasteners to a point where the brake pedal assembly is loose and moves easily. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-06. The pedal assembly will move approximately 2.5 mm (3/32") on the studs from the booster.

2. With the bracket loose, reposition/center the pedal assembly by moving it on the fasteners. Torque the pedal assembly fasteners to 23 N.m (17 lb-ft). This is to clamp the booster and pedal assembly together in a different position than they were previously mated.

3. Remove and discard the Clevis Pin.

4. Apply a thin film of Motorcraft(R) High Temperature 4x4 Front Axle and Wheel Bearing Grease to the new Clevis Pin and install the pin.
