Dear Mustang Convertible Owner: March, 1983

Ford Motor Company's continuing commitment to build high-quality vehicles is matched by a corresponding commitment to customer satisfaction. In keeping with this commitment to customer satisfaction, we monitor the performance of our products after-the-sale. As a result, we have identified a product condition that may affect your Mustang convertible. This letter is to advise you of the condition and what Ford intends to do about it. Our records indicate that you own the vehicle identified by the 17-character serial number on the envelope for this letter. (If you own more than one affected vehicle, the serial numbers are shown on a listing attached to this letter.)

CONVERTIBLE TOP OPERATION/DUST COVER INSTALLATION:

DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION:

We have found that some-fasteners used to attach weatherstrips to the convertible top may contact and puncture the fabric when the top is lowered to the fully down position. Since it may be possible to puncture the top the first time it is lowered, we urge you to not lower the top until the corrections described below can be performed.

DESCRIPTION OF FORD'S PROGRAM:

To prevent such puncturing of the convertible top fabric of your vehicle, we will modify the affected fasteners. If the convertible top fabric has already been punctured from contact with the fasteners, the top will be replaced. These services will be done at no charge to you.

TO HAVE THIS CORRECTION PERFORMED:

Contact any Ford dealer to arrange an appointment for service. Although this program will remain in effect during your vehicle's basic warranty period, we urge you to have this correction performed at your earliest convenience.

Ford is voluntarily taking this initiative as part of our ongoing efforts to maintain customer confidence in our products. Enclosed with this letter is an insert with helpful hints to assist you in the operation of the convertible top and installation of the dust cover. We hope that this notification and the enclosed insert will help to assure your satisfaction with your new Mustang convertible. We look forward to your continued patronage.
