Rust staining on the side panels and below the back window of the convertible top material is caused by the feature strip screw and chips under the end cap of the feature strip and belt moulding.

To correct the concern, use the following procedure:
1. Remove the screws (item 266) and end cap (item 74) from the end of the feature strip (Figure 1). Discard old screw.
2. Clean any metal chips out of the hole, off the feature strip and off the underside of the cap.
3. Scrub the area with industrial fallout cleaner such as Finish Kare products Industrial Fallout Cleaner No. 1119 or equivalent to remove the stain.
4. Reinstall feature strip end cap using stainless steel screws No. 8-18x1" (Procure locally).
5. Lower the top halfway.

6. Remove the belt molding between the deck lid hinges and the hinge caps (Figure 2).
7. Clean all chips, filings and rust from the moulding stud holes. Then coat all bare metal areas with primer.
8. Scrub the top fabric with the industrial cleaner to remove the stains.
9. Reinstall the hinge caps and reveal molding.
10. Let the top fabric dry, raise the top and latch in place.
