OIL COLLECTING IN THE RIBS OF THE VANE METER AIR OUTLET TUBE - SVO ONLY
FORD 1984 MUSTANG SVO
Oil found in the Air Outlet Tube between the Vane Air Meter and Turbocharger Assembly is caused by the PCV system suctioning oil out of the valve cover into the Air Inlet duct work. The following procedure should be utilized to correct this concern.
1. Remove intercooler.
2. Remove and discard existing closure tube (E4ZZ- 6758-D) and connection-crankcase vent (E4ZZ- 6A668-B).
FIGURE 6:
3. Remove nipple from closure hole in rocker cover using a twisting action before pulling out, preferably with engine hot (See Figure 6, Step 1).
4. Remove phillips head screws in throttle by-pass valve solenoid and rotate solenoid 180~ counterclockwise. DO NOT REMOVE SOLENOID OR WIRE, then reinstall screws and torque to 22-26 lb.in. (See Figure 6, Step 2).
5. Install oil separator (E4ZZ-6A785-A) after coating inlet nipple of oil separator with EOAZ-19554-B sealer or equivalent and tap down lightly with rubber/nylon mallet.
6. Install new connection-crankcase vent (E4ZZ- 6A668-B) in the turbocharger elbow (See Figure 6, Step 3).
7. Install new closure tube vent (E4ZZ-6758-D) and new hose (381187-S040A) using old clips (See Figure 6, Step 4).
8. Reinstall intercooler.
