Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair

1. On models equipped with airbag, disarm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. On all models, disconnect battery ground cable and isolate cable end with electrical tape.
3. Remove switch assemblies from righthand and lefthand sides of cluster assembly:
a. While pulling out on switch assembly, push in on locking tabs with suitable tool until tabs release.
b. Pull switch from dash panel.
c. Remove switch, then disconnect electrical connectors.
4. Remove two upper and three lower retaining screws from instrument cluster trim cover, then the trim cover.
5. Pull cluster from panel slightly and disconnect speedometer cable and the printed circuit electrical connectors.
6. Remove instrument cluster from instrument panel.
7. Reverse procedure to install, then reactivate airbag system, if equipped.
