Front Trim Panel Fitting
Figure 3:
Figure 4:
Figure 5:
1. See if the side edges of the front trim panel are under the horizontal lips of the side trim panel. (The side trim panels should have been installed first, followed by the installation of the front trim panel.)
2. Check the corner areas where the folding top material is stored.
a. Determine if the material is pushed back against the top and vertical edges of both side trim panels, Figures 3 & 4.
NOTE: SOMETIMES THIS INTERFERENCE WITH THE TRIM PANELS WILL ALLOW THE FRONT EDGE OF THE REAR WINDOW TO MOVE FORWARD, WHICH USUALLY RESULTS IN CONTACT WITH THE REAR RETRACTORS.
b. If the top material is pushed against the trim panels as shown in Figure 4, trim away the panel(s) horizontal flange, Figure 5. Repeat this step on the opposite side of trim panel.
3. See if the interference condition has been eliminated.
a. Operate the top to be sure that the glass does not contact the new retractors.
b. If the required clearance has been achieved, replace the rear glass and operate the top again to confirm the correction.
c. If the required clearance has not been achieved, proceed to Step # 4.
4. Remove the four (4) push pins holding the rear seat front lining board to the body. Remove the panel, Figure 5.
5. Install two (2) 7/16" (11.1 mm) rubber washers (386369-S) between the lower portion of the trim panel and the body as shown in Figure 5.
6. Install the side trim panels.
7. Install the front trim panels, making sure that the edges are under the horizontal edges of the side trim panels.
8. See if the interference condition has been eliminated.
a. Operate the top to make sure the rear glass does not contact the new retractors.
b. If the required clearance has been achieved, replace the rear glass and operate the top again to confirm the correction.
c. If the required clearance has not been achieved, proceed to the following rear seat back frame support repositioning procedure.
