Convertible Back Glass - Breaks: Overview

ISSUE: The back window glass may break when the top is lowered. This occurs because of interference with the rear seat shoulder/lap safety belt retractors, which are mounted behind the rear seat.

ACTION: Use the following inspection and service procedure to check and provide proper operating clearance for the back window glass when the top is lowered.

INSPECTION

1. Position the top two-thirds of the way down.

2. See if the rear window glass contacts the top rear portion of the the retractors, Figure 1.

3. If the condition exists, position the top to the full down position.

4. Proceed with the following repair procedure.
