^ STALL - 2.5L - DURING DECELEVAPORATIVE EMISSION PURGE HOSE DETERIORATED


FORD: 1986-90 TAURUS


ISSUE: Decel stalls, rough idle and intermittent loss of power may be caused by a deteriorated evaporative emission purge hose.

ACTION: Inspect, reroute and replace any damaged portion of the evaporative emission purge hose. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

Figure 1:

1. Inspect the evaporative emission purge hose for signs of damage or deterioration, Figure 1.

2. Replace any damaged or deteriorated portion of the hose with an equal length of 7/32" (5.556 mm) ID vacuum hose (DOPZ-12226-C).

a. Use straight connectors as necessary if just a portion of the hose is being replaced.

b. Reroute the hose on top of the -12A581- electrical harness.

3. Use three (3) bundling straps to secure it in position, Figure 1.
