This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Ford Motor Company has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1990 model year Taurus Police Cars.
Safety Defect The steel road wheels may crack, and the wheel rim
portion could separate from the wheel hub portion.
This could result in the loss of control and a vehicle crash.
Warnings Aggressive driving, high speed pursuit and hard
turning maneuver could accelerate the condition.
Do not drive your car if any of its wheels wobble. This could be an indication of impending wheel separation.
Repairs
At no charge, your dealer will replace each of the
suspect wheels on your car. The dealer will mount and balance the presently installed tires on the new wheels.

The time needed for this repair is about two hours.

Call your dealer Call your dealer without delay. Ask for a service
date and whether the replacement wheels are in stock.
If your dealer does not have the wheels in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.
When you bring the car in, give the dealer this letter.
If this letter is misplaced, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.
