SAFETY RECALL 90S14
TAURUS POLICE CAR - ROAD WHEEL REPLACEMENT

REPLACE ALL FIVE WHEELS (4 IF SPARE IS SPACE-SAVING TYPE). BALANCE AND REMOUNT THE ORIGINAL TIRES. NEW WHEELS IDENTIFIED WITH DOUBLE DAUBS OF ORANGE PAINT ON INNER WHEEL SURFACE. OLD WHEELS SHOULD HAVE ONE ORANGE AND ONE GRAY DAUB OF PAINT.

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Raise car on hoist.

2. Mark tire position (LF/RF/RR/LR) on tire tread.

3. Remove hub caps.

4. Remove wheel/tire assemblies from car.

5. Before dismounting the tires, mark the location of the wheel index sticker or valve stem, on inner sidewall.

6. Dismount the tires.

7. Install new valve stems on the new steel wheels.

8. Mount the tires. Match the index location on the inner sidewall to the index sticker or valve stem on the new wheel.

9. Inflate tires to 35 psi.

10. Spin balance wheel/tire assemblies, off-car.

11. Install wheel/tire assemblies on car in original tire position, and torque lug nuts to 100 ft.lbs. (135 N-m).

12. Install hub caps.

13. Lower car and stow spare tire in trunk.

NOTE - THE REMOVED STEEL WHEELS MUST BE

RETURNED TO THE MONROE STAMPING PLANT
