Ford Motor Company is providing an extended service coverage program, Number 91M73
(Clutch Service) to owners of 1989 and 1990 3.0L Taurus SHO cars.
PROGRAM COVERAGE Added warranty coverage for the first
24 months/24,000 miles or six months from the
date of this letter (whichever provides the
greatest coverage).
REASON FOR Some of these cars may develop clutch
THIS PROGRAM slippage. If this should happen, the
driver may notice:
- an increase in the force required to push in the clutch pedal.
- a slight slippage during the initial movement or acceleration of the car.
- extended slipping (higher than normal engine speed with little
vehicle movement) accompanied by a strong foreign smelling odor.
- excessive clutch slippage, which, if not serviced, could result
in the car not moving when the clutch pedal is released.
NO COST SERVICE If you should experience this clutch concern,
your dealer will replace the clutch and flywheel
assembly:
- if your car is less than 24 months old and within the first 24,000 miles, or
- within six months of the date of this letter
(before May, 1992) if your car is more than
24 months old or has more than 24,000 miles.
HOW LONG WILL The time needed for this service is about five
IT TAKE? hours. However, due to service scheduling
times, your dealer will need your car for at least one full working day.
CALL YOUR DEALER If you should experience this concern, call
your dealer. Ask for a service date and if parts are in stock.
If your dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered
before scheduling your service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.
When you bring your car in, give the dealer this letter.
If you misplace this letter, your dealer will still
do the work, free of charge.
REFUNDS If you paid to have this service done before the
date of this letter, Ford is offering a full refund.
For the refund, please show your paid work-order to
your Ford dealer.
