SURGE - 3.0L SHO - LIGHT TO MODERATE AT STEADY STATE SPEED

FORD: 1989-92 TAURUS

ISSUE: A light to moderate intensity surge may occur at steady State speeds that are 55 MPH (88 KM/H) and above. This may be caused by movement of the idle air bypass valve. Those customers that notice it will feel a very slight "trailer-hitching" with no observeable change in vehicle speed. The condition can only be observed during steady state driving.

ACTION: Install a new design idle air bypass valve (F0DZ-9F715-A). Refer to the appropriate model year Taurus/Sable Car Shop Manual, Sections 24-03/24-05, for service details.

Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
