Engine - Poor Performance

ISSUE: Poor engine performance may be caused by the 12A581 engine control wiring harness rubbing on the lower front right intake plenum support bracket studbolt.

ACTION: Inspect for damaged wiring and replace the existing studbolt with a standard hex head bolt. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Pull the 12A581 engine wiring harness up from the studbolt area and check for worn wires.

NOTE: DAMAGED AREA ON WIRING WILL BE LOCATED ABOUT 12"(305MM) FROM THE 60 PIN EEC CONNECTOR, FIGURE 1.

2. Repair any damaged wires and retape the harness as required.

NOTE: IF WIRES ARE NOT DAMAGED, PERFORM STEPS # 3 & # 4 ANYWAY TO AVOID FUTURE POTENTIAL CONCERNS.
3. Replace the lower studbolt with a standard (8-1.25 x 35) hex head bolt (90119-08153), Figure 1. Tighten it to 11-17 lb.ft. (15-23 N-m).

4. Check to be sure that the wiring harness is secured away from any abrasive area.
