Removal and Installation

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove four bolts retaining catalytic converter, then converter.
3. Mark driveshaft so that it may be installed in the same relative position, then remove driveshaft. Cover extension housing to prevent leakage.
4. Disconnect electrical leads and speedometer cable from transmission.
5. Support rear of engine and transmission, then remove crossmember.
6. Lower transmission assembly to expose two bolts securing shift handle to shift tower, then remove bolts and handle assembly.
7. Disconnect wiring harness from back-up lamp switch.
8. Disconnect neutral sensing switch.
9. Remove bolt from speedometer cable retainer, then speedometer driven gear from transmission.
10. Move transmission and jack rearward until transmission input shaft clears flywheel housing. If necessary, lower the engine enough to obtain clearance for transmission removal.
