Park Brake Handle - Console Interference

INTERIOR TRIM - CONSOLE - INTERFERENCE
BETWEEN PARKING BRAKE HANDLE AND
CONSOLE GAP HIDER

FORD:
1994-95 MUSTANG

ISSUE:
The console gap hider (rubber boot) may tear where it meets the parking brake control handle on some vehicles. This is due to interference between the parking brake control handle and the console gap hider.

ACTION:
Rework parking brake handle and install a new console. Refer to following procedure for service details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove console, referring to the 1994 or 1995 Mustang Service Manual, Section 01-12.

2. Place parking brake control in released position.

3. Remove parking brake control, referring to the 1994 or 1995 Mustang Service Manual, Section 06-05.





4. Die grind foremost hole in parking brake control mounting bracket (Figure 1).

5. Reinstall modified parking brake control, referring to the 1994 or 1995 Mustang Service Manual, Section 06-05.

6. Align parking brake handle so that it is centered in the console gap hider.

7. Install new console (F4ZZ-63045A36-# ), referring to the 1994 or 1995 Mustang Service Manual, Section 01-12.

8. Verify parking brake handle is centered in console gap hider.
