Backup Lamp: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Manual Lever Position switch is designed to prevent engine starter operation if the transmission is in a drive gear.


OPERATION
This switch houses the START circuits for the ignition system to allow the vehicle to be started in park or neutral. The backup lamp circuits, which are closed in reverse are also contained in this switch. Used by the transaxle control module to determine transaxle gear selection.
