Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Throttle Position Sensor:
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the two TP sensor set screws and remove the TP sensor from the throttle body.
INSTALLATION
1. Open the throttle slightly to align the tab A and tab B of the TP sensor to the throttle body.
2. Align the mounting holes and install the TP sensor.
3. Check that tab A and tab B are properly aligned.
4. Tighten the TP sensor set screws to 2 Nm (14-20 ft lb).
5. Connect the battery ground cable.
6. Adjust TP sensor.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
