Evaporative Emissions System: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The fuel vapor emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors to the atmosphere under hot soak and engine off conditions by storing the vapors in a fuel vapor canister. The system also controls the purging of stored vapors from the fuel vapor canister to the engine, where they are burned to prevent waste.

CONSTRUCTION
The fuel vapor emission control system consists of a fill control/vapor vent system, a fuel tank filler cap, fuel vapor valve. The engine evaporative emission system consists of fuel vapor hoses, fuel vapor canister, fuel vapor tube shut off valve, fuel vapor canister purge regulator valve.
