Engine: Service and Repair

1. Relieve fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
3. Remove battery and battery tray assembly.
4. Disconnect under hood lamp electrical connector, then mark position of hood hinges and remove hood.
5. Remove oil dipstick tube, then disconnect alternator to voltage regulator wiring harness.
6. Remove radiator upper sight shield, discharge A/C system, then remove radiator coolant reservoir assembly.
7. Remove integrated relay controller.
8. Remove air cleaner hose assembly and upper radiator hose.
9. Disconnect electric fan and shroud, then remove lower radiator hose and radiator assembly.
10. Bleed fuel system, then disconnect fuel hoses.
11. Remove power steering reservoir and position aside.
12. Disconnect reservoir hose from power steering pump.
13. Disconnect throttle linkage.
14. Disconnect vacuum and heater hoses.
15. Disconnect electrical connector from harness on rear of engine.
16. Remove accessory drive belt.
17. Disconnect cycling switch on top of suction accumulator/dryer.
18. Disconnect A/C line at dash panel, then remove accumulator and bracket assembly.
19. Remove alternator assembly, then disconnect A/C discharge hose.
20. Remove A/C compressor and bracket assembly.
21. Raise and support vehicle.
22. Drain engine oil and remove oil filter.
23. Remove wheel and tires assemblies, then disconnect oil level sensor electrical connector.
24. Remove righthand lower ball joint, tie rod end and stabilizer bar.
25. Remove center support bearing bracket, then righthand CV joint from transaxle.
26. Disconnect heater exhaust gas oxygen sensor assembly.
27. Remove four exhaust catalyst to engine retaining bolts.
28. Remove starter mounting bolts, then starter assembly.
29. Remove lower transaxle mounting bolts, then engine mount to subframe attaching nuts.
30. Remove crankshaft pulley assembly, then lower vehicle.
31. Remove upper transaxle mounting bolts.
32. Install suitable engine lifting equipment.
33. Remove engine assembly.
34. Reverse procedure to install.
