QT7 Perform ABS Diagnostic Trouble Code Retrieval

NOTE: When a diagnostic trouble code is reported on the analog VOM, it will represent itself as a pulsing or sweeping movement of the voltmeter's needle across the dial face. Codes will be repeated after all memory codes have been displayed once.

- Verify that the anti-lock brake warning indicator is illuminated (prior to equipment hookup) in the key ON, engine OFF test before continuing.

- Key ON. If using a NGS Tester 007-00500, turn the key ON, wait two seconds, then turn the tester ON.

- Does the anti-lock brake warning indicator flash briefly then go out?

YES -- ABS system OK.

NO -- If indicator illuminated constantly, record VOM or NGS tester diagnostic trouble codes. Erase diagnostic trouble codes from memory. Reattempt diagnostic trouble code retrieval. Record all recreated diagnostic trouble codes. Service recreated codes as necessary. If the problem still exists or if no codes were recreated, proceed to QT8. (Codes that were not recreated indicate past or intermittent faults). QT8 Perform Continuous Test

If indicator flashes service codes, past or intermittent fault(s) exist. Be sure to record the diagnostic trouble codes before erasing faults. Erase diagnostic trouble codes from the memory, then proceed to QT8. QT8 Perform Continuous Test
